Mike Tyson May Fight Again After Jake Paul – ‘I Take Care Of Jake First’

Mike Tyson is open to having more fights after the Jake Paul bout.

The former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion faces Paul on July 20, live on Netflix. It is his first pro fight since losing to Kevin McBride in 2005. The Texas Athletic Commission dismissed any safety concerns to announce an eight-round fight, with two-minute rounds where they will wear 14-ounce gloves.

Tyson will be 58, while Paul will enter the ring at 28. Tyson has taken measures to prepare himself for this fight. He is eating raw meat, using hypnosis and banning weed/sex. This has been accompanied by an intense training routine where he works out three times a day. While there are question marks over why Tyson would take this fight since money does not seem to be an issue, he is open to doing it again.

Tyson vs. Paul

“Hey, this seems like it’s going to be pretty fun. Maybe we’ll do it again too. Well, can I take care of Jake first, please?” Tyson said

Nevertheless, there are suggestions that the fight will be scripted. This was the same criticism that Paul faced when he faced Tommy Fury. The Fury fight went as planned, with Paul losing a split decision. While he did drop Fury with a jab, the fight did not go his way, dismissing any notion that both men would not make it competitive. Paul has responded to those claims, shutting down any idea that it is scripted.

“This fight isn’t scripted as some haters in boxing community want you to believe. This is a sanctioned fight and I’m knocking Jake out,” Tyson revealed

“I love you Mike. But you are the one getting knocked out. And…the haters saying it’s scripted,” Paul stated

Paul’s Motives

Those words were also backed up in their kick-off presser. Tyson warned Paul that he may have to fight for his life. The Problem Child is serious about the bout, having bulked up to around 240 pounds before he will lose some weight. There is also the added pressure of delivering on a big card. Katie Taylor faces Amanda Serrano in the co-main event. The huge rematch sets up the main event, putting pressure on Paul and Tyson to deliver for the fans. Paul’s comments at their initial presser showed his intent.

“Age is just a number, he’s a killer and he’s a warrior. He’s been doing this his whole entire life so it’s second nature to him. I’ve been doing it for four years and I’ve been doing it at a super-high level but I’m going to prove I can out-box Mike Tyson.

“I know I’ll be able to take his power. I’m a natural-born heavyweight and this is what I was born to do, to move up into this weight class. I’m going to show Mike who has more power,” Paul
